In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling in United States v Skrmetti, Ann Toback, CEO of the Workers Circle, released this statement:

June 18, 2025

Our hearts break today with the Supreme Court’s ruling on United States v. Skrmetti, which upholds a Tennessee ban on gender-affirming care for trans youth. We know that gender-affirming care is lifesaving care and we will continue to stand in solidarity with the trans and queer members of our community. Everyone should have access to the medical care they need. This is a value the Workers Circle has stood by throughout our 125-year history, from the days in which we offered medical services, life insurance, and elder care. We will continue to fight for democracy and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, who should be guaranteed equal protection by our Constitution.
