The Workers Circle joins over 80 organizations in condemning authoritarian overreach of the Trump administration
The Workers Circle has joined a coalition of over 80 national and local organizations to sound the alarm bell about the Trump administration’s embrace of authoritarianism and attacks on our democracy.

The Workers Circle denounces the Trump administration’s abduction of Rumeysa Ozturk, a lawfully present Turkish Ph.D. student and Fulbright Scholar at Tufts, and calls for her immediate release.
On Tuesday, masked federal agents abruptly confronted Rumeysa Ozturk, a Turkish doctoral student at Tufts and a Fulbright scholar on the sidewalk, took her phone, and swept her into an unmarked vehicle. They refused to clearly identify themselves, showed no warrant or badges, and did not tell her why she was being arrested. Despite a court order that she remain in Massachusetts, she is being held in Louisiana in violation of the US Constitution’s guarantee of due process. Her student visa has been cancelled.

The Workers Circle condemns the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil and demands his immediate release.
We unequivocally condemn the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian American permanent resident and Columbia University graduate student, by ICE without demonstrating a warrant, and we demand his release and the reinstatement of his green card immediately.

In pardoning loyalists whose actions were in support of his failed candidacy and who aimed to override the will of the voters, he has abandoned the cornerstone commitment to the peaceful transition of power that has defined our nation since its founding.
