Across the United States, families—some with legal status, others still navigating a broken system—are being detained, disappeared, or deported without warning.

While Trump’s dragnet is currently aimed at immigrants, these actions undermine the constitutional rights of us all. When there are some people who no longer have their legal rights, when they are taken from the streets by masked agents without identification or warrant without the ability to contact their lawyer or family, it becomes easier to do the same to others. Having cancelled TPS, visas, and greencards, now the administration is talking about denaturalizing citizens and going after political opponents.

Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda and ICE disappearances are traumatizing and tearing families and our communities apart. It is immoral, it is unconstitutional, it is cruel and we all must do our part to end it.

Here’s one way you can help: Talk to Your Sheriff and urge them not to cooperate with ICE in the disappearance of our neighbors.

Sheriffs across the country have varying relationships with ICE and serve as a “force multiplier” for ICE with jails, information, and personnel. We can stop that.

By talking to your sheriff, you learn what they are doing or not doing with ICE, you hold them accountable as elected officials, and you encourage them to speak up against what’s happening and stop assisting in the disappearance of our neighbors.
